French Wine Masterclass – Le Tour de France x SEPTIMUS

A Wine Masterclass at Bar Septimus
Le Tour de France
Sunday 5 July 2026 · Grand Départ drinks from 5:30pm, seated at 6:00pm
For one evening, Bar Septimus becomes the 2026 Tour de France. Seven wines, poured in race order, carry you across the country from the opening roll-out to the podium in Paris. These are bottles most lists never show together in a single night, opened side by side and walked through glass by glass.
The roll-out · Burgundy
Crémant de Bourgogne
Made by the traditional Champagne method, fine-beaded and crisp, the toast that sends the peloton off the line.
The Pyrenees · Languedoc
A white of the southern sun
All white peach, fennel and warm stone, your first taste of France proper.
The Massif Central · Beaujolais
Château de la Chaize, Brouilly
A cru Beaujolais of perfume and lift, bright red fruit over a serious core, built for the long rolling stages.
The Vosges · Alsace
Hugel Riesling
From one of Alsace’s founding families, dry and taut and cut with mountain minerality, the wine that wakes the whole table.
The queen stage · The Alps
Guigal Hermitage
The great hill of the Northern Rhône and one of the benchmark red wines of the world. Dark, dense, ageworthy Syrah of violets, cracked pepper and iron, a glass people cellar for years and rarely get to open. This is the climb of the night and the reason to be in the room.
The descent · Provence
Vieux Télégraphe ‘Télégramme’
From the famed La Crau plateau of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, warm and generous with garrigue, dark cherry and sun in the glass.
The podium · Champagne
Pierre Gimonnet
Grower Champagne from the chalk of the Côte des Blancs, pure Chardonnay, fine and bracing, raised to the line in Paris.
Your host pours and guides every stage: the geography, the growers, and why each wine earns its place on the route.
Add the Ride the Route Cheese Flight · +$30
Three cheeses chosen to trace the race: a sheep’s milk Ossau-Iraty from the Pyrenean foothills, a Comté matured in the cool air of the high Alps, and a Bleu d’Auvergne from the volcanic heart of the Massif Central. Three regions, each matched to a wine as you climb.
Seven wines · One country · Strictly limited to 20 seats
