Bar Septimus is a two-storey wine bar at 220 Grenfell Street in Adelaide’s East End. Book the upstairs lounge for a client dinner of around 20, or the whole venue for up to 50, with French and Australian wine, cheese and charcuterie.
The space
- Whole venue: Two storeys for up to 50 guests, seated or cocktail-style.
- Upstairs, semi-private: A reserved upper level, ideal for smaller groups and semi-private gatherings.
- Counter and bar: Relaxed seating for smaller groups and pre-dinner gatherings.
- Outdoor terrace: Footpath seating for warmer evenings.

Christmas parties
Christmas and end-of-year dates fill from October. The upstairs lounge suits a team of up to twenty, and the whole venue takes fifty for a cocktail-style party. Dates, packages and planning notes are on our Christmas functions page, and companies can see corporate functions.
Private dining Adelaide: client drinks and small groups
For client drinks or a small private gathering, the upstairs lounge can be reserved for up to twenty. There is no kitchen: food is cheese, charcuterie and canapé-style bites, and outside catering can be arranged. Bar Septimus holds a White Star on Star Wine List, the international guide to wine bars.

How many guests can you hold?
Up to fifty across both floors, or twenty in the upstairs lounge. Smaller groups can book the counter.
Is there a hire fee?
No. Functions run on a minimum spend that depends on the night and the space. Tell us the date and numbers and we’ll quote.
Can we book a Christmas party on a weeknight?
Yes. Monday and Thursday nights suit end-of-year parties. Tuesday and Wednesday can be arranged for a private booking. Ask us.
Do you do a set menu?
There is no kitchen. We serve cheese, charcuterie and canapé-style bites matched to the wine, and can arrange outside catering for a seated meal.
Can you run a tasting for our group?
Yes. Our winemaker in residence can lead a guided tasting as part of the night. Ask when you enquire, or see our masterclasses.
