Last updated: June 2026 • Policies can change; call ahead.

Some venues only allow BYO mid-week or limit bottles per table, so please check when reserving. Planning a special occasion? Many of these venues are perfect, but for a curated experience with rare back-vintage wines, consider a private function at Septimus or one of our special tasting events.

What does the fee cover?

The BYO fee, or corkage, usually covers glassware, service (opening and pouring), and the lost margin from not ordering off the venue’s wine list. Higher fees are common at fine dining establishments or on peak nights.

BYO Etiquette and tips
  • Call ahead and confirm the BYO policy, bottle limits, and whether sparkling is allowed.
  • Bring bottles unopened with the original closure and in sound condition.
  • Offer your server a small taste if appropriate and legal.
  • Order food and at least one drink from the venue to support the house.
  • Tip for good stemware and decanting care when offered.
  • Hosting a group? See our private dining rooms Adelaide guide for venues built for events.
